What kind of motor do the Klever bikes have?

All Klever bikes have a BIACTRON rear wheel motor. This motor is the most powerful on the market. The system is designed to deliver outstanding ride quality and power. The drive is brushless and because the electronic and mechanical parts are also separated, there is hardly any wear and the BIACTRON system will last for years.

Does the battery have to be empty before I can charge it?

No, you can charge the battery at any time, even if it is only partially discharged.

What should I do with a defective battery?

Defective batteries do not belong in household waste and must be disposed of properly. It is best to take it to an authorised dealer.

How often can I charge my battery?

We guarantee that the battery will still have 60% of its original capacity after 700 full charge cycles or two years from the date of purchase. Of course you can charge the battery more often or use it for more than two years. The battery may lose some capacity over the years due to the natural aging process.

When should I replace my battery?

To find out whether your battery needs to be replaced, we recommend to go to a Klever dealer. They can check your battery and provide you with the necessary advice. If the battery needs to be replaced, the dealer can check whether the battery is still under warranty. All Klever batteries have a standard warranty of 2 years. If you fill in the warranty form on our website, the warranty period will be extended by +1 year.

Can I charge the battery with another charger?

No, the battery may only be charged with the supplied Klever charger.

How long do I have a warranty on my Klever bike?

You have a warranty for the following terms on your Klever bike:

3 year warranty for electronic parts (motor, controller, sensors and display)
5 year warranty on the frame
2 year warranty on the charger
2 year warranty on the battery subject to conditions (free to extend for +1 year on our website, under the heading “Warranty”)
2 year warranty on bike parts

How long do I have a warranty on my battery?

All Klever batteries have a standard warranty of 2 years. If you fill in the warranty form on our website, the warranty period will be extended for free by +1 year.

Does the warranty void, in case I do not stick to the recommended regularly inspections?

No, the warranty does not void. We recommend, however, for your own safety to carry out all recommended inspections.

Where should I have my Klever bike repaired if I want to keep the warranty?

If you want to have your Klever bike repaired, this is only possible at authorized Klever dealers. All authorized Klever dealers are in close contact with our technical department and are regularly trained.

Klever is not responsible or liable for repair costs carried out by unauthorized Klever dealers. Replacement of warranty parts within the warranty period does not lead to an extension or renewal of that warranty period. How do I cycle safely with an electric bike?

On an electric bike (25 km/h) you have to pedal along to get ahead. The pedal assistance stops at 25 kilometers per hour. The traffic rules for a normal bike also apply to electric cyclists.

Rules for an electric bike in the Netherlands and Belgium:

– you do not need a driver’s license;
– Insurance is not mandatory;
– the electric bike does not require a registration number;
– there is no minimum age;
– you must follow the traffic rules for cyclists on this electric bike;
– you don’t have to wear a helmet;

How do I ride safely with a speed pedelec?

On a speed pedelec (45 km/h) you have to pedal along to get ahead. The pedal assistance stops at 45 kilometers per hour. There are different traffic rules for a speed pedelec than for a normal bike or electric bike.

Rules in the Netherlands:
– you must be at least 16 years old;
– you must have at least a moped driver’s license or car driver’s license B;
– wearing a bike helmet that complies with NTA 8776 is mandatory;
– a rear-view mirror on the handlebars is mandatory;
– the speed pedelec must be registered with the Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer (RDW) upon receipt and must be provided with a yellow registration number;
– third-party liability insurance is mandatory;
– a speed pedelec rides on a moped path or on the roadway;

Rules in Belgium:
– you must be at least 16 years old;
– you must have at least a moped driver’s license or car driver’s license B;
– wearing a bike helmet that complies with EN1078 is mandatory;
– the speed pedelec must be registered with the Vehicle Registration Service (DIV) upon receipt and must be provided with a yellow registration number;
– with a speed pedelec you follow the traffic rules for moped riders;
– taking out insurance is not mandatory;

How fast does an electric bike go?

You have complete control over how fast an electric bike goes. But the maximum speed of electric bike varies. Klever has several models of bikes with maximum speeds of 25 and 45 km per hour.

How can I protect the bike against theft?

All Klever bike come with an e-key. With this e-key you can activate your Klever bike and block the motor. This electronic block is combined with an acoustic alarm system, which can be activated with the Lock button on the display. The battery can only be removed from the frame by unlocking the battery lock with the key. Ask your Klever dealer for advice on how best to lock your bike.

Can I ride my Klever bike in winter?

In general, it is no problem at all to ride your Klever bike at low temperatures. Store your battery in a warm place before you travel. Please note that in winter at low outside temperatures the range can decrease by 30%.

Can I transport the Klever bike by plane?

Because batteries are considered dangerous goods, many airlines refuse to transport the battery. Always check in advance with the airline under which conditions and costs transport is possible.
